I am really proud to be born and brought up in the world-famous holiday resort island of Mauritius. I am of Indian origin - my great-grandfather was a native of Kolkata, India, and immigrated to Mauritius on 28th February 1866.
After my secondary studies at Royal College Curepipe, I completed my B Sc (Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics) and B Sc (Hons) in Mathematical Statistics at the University of Durban-Westville, UDW (now University of KwaZulu-Natal, UKZN). I was also appointed as Teaching Assistant in Statistics for a year at the University of Cape Town, while doing my B Sc (Hons) in Actuarial Science. During my Master's degree in Mathematical Statistics at UDW, I was employed as full-time Junior Lecturer, while working as part-time Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics at Damelin College, Durban.
I returned home in 1992 and, since then, I have been teaching Mathematics and Statistics at Loreto College Port Louis and Collège du Saint Esprit, and lecturing for more than 20 years in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Techniques and Internet Studies at tertiary Mauritian institutions, namely University of Mauritius, Université des Mascareignes, Charles Telfair Institute (now Curtin Mauritius) and Medine Education Village (now Uniciti), among several others.
I am self-employed as Private Consultant in Statistics, Quantitative Research and Web Design, and lecturing part-time in Mathematics and Statistics at a few local tertiary institutions. I completed my Ph.D in Statistics at the University of Durban-Westville and D Ed in Educational Psychology at the University of Western Cape through distance learning, and also working on several academic research papers.
